Why a Vision is Needed

Is it possible to travel towards a destination without having knowledge of where you are going? Not really. It would be very difficult to navigate when you are unaware of your surroundings and unsure of how to exactly move forward. If we were to examine the majority of people in the world today we would see that they have no sense of vision; no sure answer to the direction in which their life is headed. These are the people who constantly complain about the status of their life but offer up no solutions of their own in order to change their current predicament. They have no idea where their future is headed, they just know that the present is not working in their favor. Can this description be used to describe your entrepreneurial journey/ your life? Are you the entrepreneur/ person without a vision?

Trust me I have operated in that existence. Trying to develop a business without knowing exactly what I wanted to accomplish lead me nowhere but into continuous frustration. Wait let me step back a moment. I did have a vision and plan but did not follow the guidelines established within them. You see, you really have no vision if you do not work towards actually making it happen. I know plenty of people who say they want to do this great thing and that great thing but guess what? They never make these things come into fruition. You know why not? It is because their thought of a vision is nothing more than a vivid imagination. I say this because a vision usually follows with a structured plan. A vivid imagination usually follows with wishful thoughts, which hold no substance to stand upon. An entrepreneur can sometimes create wild gains from an idea but after a while that lack of a vision will soon become a hindering disability. There are countless examples of entrepreneurs who rode to great heights off of an idea but quickly collapsed due to the fact that they lacked a true vision to build towards.

This happens because your lack of vision allows you to be pulled into every direction that presents itself, even when such directions will clearly result in negative consequences. You do not see this though because your idea of what has to be done has not been defined by yourself but rather by the standards set by other people. These people have a vision of what they want you to accomplish for them but you on the other hand are unaware of the situation. Their vision has become your vision and now you work in order to fulfill their needs. So in actuality you became an entrepreneur only to become entrenched in the employee mindset once again.

Makes you think right? Can a lack of a vision really cause such negative effects? Absolutely. Vision is what creates the divide within the world. Visionaries lay out a plan to be followed by those who are unwilling or incapable of operating in a vision of their own. Unless you are willing to disrupt the status quo, the visions of the system in place will continue to dictate the direction of your life. That is what makes entrepreneurs who they are. Their visions of enhancing or replacing inefficient systems is what separates them from “society oriented” people. *Society oriented people or those who blindly follow the ways of the majority without questioning the path which is being taken. This is why a vision is important. It helps to transition in new ideas and ways when the old ones are obsolete and causing more harm than good.

A vision is much more than an idea. It is the way in which you choose to operate and live by. If you do not have a vision for your own life whose vision are you following in order to live by? As an entrepreneur how will your business succeed/ survive if you do not have a vision in place for it to live up to? Your guess is as good as mine.
